Background
ASL was established in 1998. The directors come from a background of HR and occupational psychology and are experienced in personnel assessment. We offer an honest, transparent service to both clients and candidates. ASL Recruitment was established from the base of its sister company, Assessment Systems Ltd.
Within the group of ASL companies we offer a range of Specialist Assessment consultancy, Recruitment services, and HR related consultancy.
Our Approach
One of the key differences when we founded ASL is none of the founding team had worked in the Recruitment Industry previously. To some this may seem a disadvantage – we saw it as an opportunity. We had been on the receiving end of some unscrupulous agencies as clients: we knew what we did not like and set about building a company to would do things differently.
When we started ASL Recruitment we set about creating a refreshingly new style of recruitment. We strived to be unique and set the standards of best practise within our industry.
What makes us different?
It’s a people thing. Our slogan, “Because People Make the Difference”, captures the ethos. We believe people are the only unique asset any business can have, and that’s where the difference with ASL begins. We have worked to create a culture at ASL where we actually care about getting the right person in post and delivering the best service to our clients.
We ensure our staff are trained in best practice of client management and some of the finer arts of assessment. Only when we truly understand both our client needs and the skills and personality of our candidates can we make the best selection decisions.
Our best candidates usually come via recommendation – this means we need to treat our candidates well too. All too many dislike our industry because they have registered with agencies and been ignored, or perhaps responded to advertised jobs, only to find the job has been filled, or perhaps never even existed!
How do we achieve this?
Well it starts at the top. We care about and look after our own employees, and develop our Recruitment Products to ensure best practise is designed at the core of each service we offer.
For example; we deliver rebate terms of up to nine months on permanent placements – a level we have not yet found matched within our industry – by contrast, the norm is still 8-13 weeks. Additionally, a favourite with some of our smaller clients, we allow our clients to pay their fees in instalments over the same nine months.
TEAMwork
ASL Recruitment Ltd is a member of The Employment Agents Movement (TEAM). TEAM is a network of independent recruitment and employment agencies throughout the UK. TEAM has associated companies in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
The TEAM framework enables independent recruitment agencies to work collaboratively to build mutually beneficial relationships with clients. Together TEAM members can bid for contracts normally outside their reach because of their size, specialisations or location.
TEAM gives employers a legitimate and competitive alternative to the larger recruitment chains. TEAM clients get the best of both worlds - the ability to recruit regionally, nationally or internationally, plus highly committed, knowledgeable and motivated local agencies working on their behalf.
